David Archuleta cried for Alexandrea

Last night’s final cut in the American Idol was an emotional one. Ramiele Malubay was caught crying when Danny Noriega was booted out, while David Archuleta shed tears when Alexandréa Lushington had been voted off. Yes, a very emotional night indeed, which saw two youngsters and two veterans losing the chance to be the next “American Idol.” And cameras caught Archie wiping his tears with his sleeve after it was announced that close friend Alexandréa Lushington had been voted off.

Four years ago, the two competed in the talent show “Star Search” on CBS. According to Alexandrea (an exclusive phone interview arranged by Star World), “David Archuleta and I have known each other for a long time … I probably would’ve [cried, too] if he had been the one to go.” The 17-year-old, one of Randy Jackson’s favorites, did not expect to get the boot so early in the competition. And I’m sure David Archuleta didn’t expect it too, given his raw emotional outburst. Poor kid!

David Archuleta’s high school subjects

Yes, believe it or not.. Our darling singer is still going to high school — but in a different way. According to reports, David Archuleta still gets on-set tutoring for three hours a day while on “American Idol”. And TMZ has obtained the required reading list of his 11th grade class at Murray High School. Jeez, TMZ guys really know how to snoop around! LOL! While David Archuleta has been performing his heart out in AI, students at his Utah high school have been trudging through the classics like “Catcher in the Rye,” “The Crucible,” “The Great Gatsby,” “Macbeth,” “Much Ado About Nothing,” and “Hamlet.” Icky! I wonder if David Archuleta still has time to read all this stuff! What do you think guys? Can high school and a blossoming singing career go hand in hand? Or must one be sacrificed for the other? Don’t be shy, tell us what you think! Hehe! =)

David Archuleta was “gloomy” this week

It was supposed to be Eighties week on American Idol, but the eight remaining semifinalist guys embraced the night’s other theme: embarrassment. 80s is that decade where stuff that went down really embarrasses you now, LOL! As per the Rolling Stones,

“Luke Menard sang a wussy “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go,” David Hernandez recalled the dreadful day he had “a pea-sized booger” in his nose and even wunderkind David Archuleta had to swallow his pride as Simon Cowell called his Phil Collins cover “gloomy”.”

Per Canada.com,

“Simon gave David Archuleta cred for showing nerve, but when the manchild followed up this week with Phil Collins’ ‘Another Day in Paradise’ — again, not as awful as it sounds — Simon’s notoriously thin patience began to show. Too much of a downer, dude, Simon said, though not in so many words. How old are you, 17? Show some lightness, dude, it doesn’t have to be dark all the time.”

So David Archuleta fans, what do you think?? Did our darling picked the wrong song this week? If yes, PLEASE STILL VOTE!!! Hehe! He may be up to something spectacular next week! ;-p

showbiz advice for David Archuleta

One writer advices American Idol’s current tween sensation “to bomb one of these early weeks.” The writer explains, “For some reason, ‘Idol’ history shows that the more flawless someone (like David Archuleta) appears to be early on, the harder they fall later for the tiniest mess-up. If he’s too perfect up until the top four or top three, and then gives a subpar performance that week, ‘Idol’ past suggests he’ll have a huge target on his back.”
Another writer agrees and thinks our darling David Archuleta isn’t without his weaknesses.

“Nobody likes a contestant to peak too early on ‘Idol,’ ” he said. “It sort of takes the fun out of it for viewers if it becomes a 15-week coronation march for him. I think there will be moments where the judges are tough on him, maybe even overly tough on him, because I don’t think they want this season to be a forgone conclusion before we reach the final 12.” Hmmm, I quite agree with the both of them! Let’s see how David Archuleta fares this week!

what writers say about David Archuleta

Writers who follow American Idol are giving unsolicited (but heartfelt) analysis of AI’s current teen sensation. One writer pointed out, “Peaking this early could come back to haunt David Archuleta. People may tire of the ‘aw shucks’ thing, and his ‘prior experience’ might eventually turn people off … I read a few upset comments about how he ‘recycled’ his ‘Imagine’ performance from a local Utah talk show after a clip popped up on YouTube.” Michael Slezak, a senior writer for Entertainment Weekly who has become known for his American Idol coverage, agrees with the previous writer.

He says, “I think at this point calling David Archuleta the ‘early front-runner’ would be an understatement. He’s that cuddly, cute contestant that tweens and grandmas alike can get behind, and that’s a pretty powerful voting bloc. We’ve seen what … Kevin Covais did in the competition without being particularly great vocalists, just on the cute, teen merits alone, that I think this kid has that plus — what we’ve seen so far — a pretty good singing voice.” Mr. Slezak further added, “I don’t know if I’m ready to call it a great singing voice yet. It’s too early to hand him the competition, but on the other hand, if someone said bet all your money on one contestant to win, it would be David Archuleta.” WOW!!!
